Bvlgari
Italy · Founded 1884
Founded in Rome by Greek silversmith Sotirios Voulgaris (Sotirio Bulgari) in 1884; flagship boutique opened on Via Condotti in 1905. Entered watchmaking with the BVLGARI BVLGARI model in 1977; Bulgari Time (Switzerland) established early 1980s and Bulgari Haute Horlogerie SA founded 1980 in Neuchatel to house in-house watch manufacturing. Acquired by LVMH in 2011 in an all-share deal valued around EUR 4.3 billion; the Bulgari family became LVMH's second-largest family shareholder after the Arnaults. Since c.2014 the Octo Finissimo line has driven a run of ultra-thin world records (tourbillon, minute repeater, automatic, chronograph, chronograph GMT, perpetual calendar, and the sub-2mm Ultra models), positioning Bulgari's Haute Horlogerie arm (Le Sentier, Switzerland manufacture) as a serious high-complication player alongside its core jewelry-watch identity (Serpenti, BVLGARI BVLGARI, Aluminium). Confirmed via Wikipedia plus multiple watch-media corroboration (Monochrome, Hodinkee, SJX, Europa Star) via WebFetch fallback - WebSearch quota was exhausted for this research pass, so all research after the first two queries used WebFetch against DuckDuckGo/Bing HTML results and retailer pages instead.
