Install the app
Widdershins works in any browser, and it installs like an app: its own icon, a full-screen window that opens on your journal, and on iPhone and iPad, the daily wear-log reminder. It’s the same account and the same journal, with nothing to download from an app store.
iPhone and iPad
- Open widdershins.watch in Safari.
- Tap Share. On iOS 26, if you don’t see Share, tap ••• first.
- Tap “Add to Home Screen”. Leave “Open as Web App” on if you see it, then tap Add.
Chrome, Edge and Firefox on iPhone (iOS 16.4 or later) have “Add to Home Screen” in their own Share menu. An app’s built-in browser, like Instagram’s, can’t add it: open the link in Safari first.
Then open Widdershins from your Home Screen and sign in. The installed app keeps its own sign-in, separate from Safari. Turn on the daily wear-log reminder in Account: on iPhone and iPad, it only reaches the installed app.
Android
- Open widdershins.watch in Chrome.
- Tap ⋮, then “Install app”. On some phones it says “Add to Home screen”.
Samsung Internet and Firefox have the same option in their own menus.
Computer
- Chrome: click the install icon at the right of the address bar, or open ⋮ → “Cast, save, and share” → “Install page as app”.
- Edge: open … → “Apps” → “Install this site as an app”.
- Safari on a Mac (macOS Sonoma or later): File → “Add to Dock”.
Other browsers may not offer it. Everything works the same in a browser tab.
What changes once it’s installed
- Its own icon and window, opening straight to your journal.
- The daily wear-log reminder on iPhone and iPad. On Android and computers it works in the browser too.
- Where your device supports it, a badge on the icon until you’ve logged the day.
- Nothing about your account: the same journal, signed in with the same email.
What it can’t do
It isn’t a native app: there’s no Home Screen widget, no Apple Watch complication, and no Siri or Shortcuts actions. If you lose signal with your journal open, a wear you log is kept on the device and syncs when you’re back. Opening the app with no connection at all shows an offline page instead of your journal.
