Victorinox Swiss Army
Switzerland · Founded 1884
Victorinox began as a cutlery/knife maker (Karl Elsener, Ibach, Schwyz, Switzerland, 1884), maker of the Original Swiss Army Knife; trade name became 'Victorinox' in 1921. Entered the watch business in 1989 under the 'Swiss Army' brand name in the US. Victorinox Swiss Army Watch AG was formed in 2001 with US distributor Swiss Army Brands Inc (SABI); in 2002 Victorinox bought out SABI's remaining shares for full control of the 'Swiss Army' trademark for watches. Watches are designed and case/bracelet-manufactured at Victorinox's own Watch Competence Center in Delemont, Switzerland; movements are outsourced (Sellita SW200-1/SW220/SW330-2, Ronda 5030.D/517/215, and a La Joux-Perret G100 manufacture caliber in the newer Concept One line) rather than in-house. On-dial branding today generally just reads 'Victorinox', but 'Victorinox Swiss Army' remains the common trade/legal name. Historic/legacy collection names referenced on Wikipedia include Infantry, Heritage, Divemaster and Airboss. SOURCING NOTE: WebSearch quota was exhausted before this research pass began, so it relied entirely on WebFetch. victorinox.com's product pages are a JS-rendered SPA that plain WebFetch could not read; specs were obtained by routing the same URLs through the r.jina.ai read-through proxy. Third-party cross-references (Chrono24, Jomashop, WatchBase, WatchCharts, Monochrome) were largely blocked or returned no usable content, so this batch leans almost entirely on victorinox.com's own site plus Wikipedia for company history, without the usual multi-source cross-check -- individual reference specs should be treated with more caution than the 'high' confidence marking implies, since that reflects 'this is what the brand's own site says today', not independent corroboration.
