Waltham Watch Company
United States · Founded 1850 · No longer in production
Founded in Waltham, Massachusetts and credited with pioneering machine-made, interchangeable watch parts and assembly-line production in the watch trade. The original manufacturer went through repeated reorganizations, filed for bankruptcy around 1949, and had effectively ceased American operations by the late 1950s. A later Swiss-registered entity kept the Waltham name in commerce on unrelated imported goods.
